You've been sent to the recycling bin. You were great while you lasted, but your lid was finally shot.
I forgot to tell everyone... while we were on vacation, my sister gave me a Klean Kanteen for my birthday present! She knows me well, I guess. So now we are a whole family of Klean Kanteens:
Great Big Papa Kanteen, Middle-Sized Mama Kanteen, and Little Bitty Baby Sippy Kanteen. How cute, huh? Ha.
While a little bit pricey, we've gotten them all as gifts or with b-day money, so it hasn't been a big deal. They are our only water bottles (well, my daughter has a back-up sippy cup), and they are healthy and durable.

We bought those bottles this summer, too! Great that you can throw them in the dishwasher and not worry about it.
Awww, what a cute family of canteens! I have seen those in the store and they look very durable and--obviously--non-plastic. I was wondering, though, if they are hard to clean? If you just use them for water, that's one thing, but what about milk or juice?
Thanks for joining us for Thrifty Green Thursday!
I'd love to know how you like your Klean Kanteen. My water bottle is made from the type of plastic that is considered "safer" than most, but I'd like to make the jump to a better option. For some reason I get hung up on the non-transparency of metal bottles. Can you tell if it really gets clean? Maybe you'll help me take the giant leap to a healthier water bottle. Thanks so much for joining Thrifty Green Thursday this week!
Hey Rebecca and Joy,
I might not be much help on the cleaning issue, because my husband and I only use ours for water. I empty them out each night and let them air dry. The mouths are wide enough for ice cubes so you can see inside pretty well. And the grooves for the lid are wide so junk doesn't get caught up in them.
But my daughter's has milk in it and it doesn't get nearly as stinky as I thought it would. If I wash it with soap and water (and use a baby bottle cleaning brush) every few days, it doesn't smell at all! I don't let the milk get warm in it, though.
It comes with washing instructions and I think it says use some baking soda if it smells, but I haven't had to do that yet. According to Cathy, they'll be fine in the dishwasher, too!
