I am contemplating allowing ads on this blog - just as an experiment. But I haven't decided for sure yet. Here's what I've been thinking about:
Reasons against:
- I didn't start this blog to try to make any money. I started it for fun - as a little hobby. Adding the prospect of making any money off of it (NOT that there are enough readers that I would, but still, the prospect) might change my attitude toward it and make it not as fun.
- Or it might make me think about it too much and spend TOO much time (time that I don't have to spare) on it.
- I like the nice clean look of my blog and don't desire to change it much.
- I am not a big fan of consumerism in general and don't desire to subject my readers to even more of it when they come to read my blog.
- I would most likely start just with Google AdSense, because it is so easy, but you can't control the ads that show up on your page.
- I like to write and it would be fun to make money (any amount) from something that is not considered work to me.
- I spend time writing that I could spend doing other things, so why not see if it is possible to receive compensation for that? Isn't that fair? Time is money, so they say.
- I read other people's blogs with ads on them and it doesn't affect whether I chose to read them or not - that is based on the writing content and overall "feel" of the blog.
- It is not a permanent decision. If I choose to do ads, I can pull them whenever I want.
What do you think? Would you feel let down if I allowed AdSense? Or would you not care? Or do you use a reader where the ads don't affect you either way? If no one comments either way, then I'll take it that it doesn't matter much to you. But, I do really want to know your opinion...

Honestly, I suscribe to RSS Feeds for all the blogs I read, so I never see anybody's adds or anthing. All I see is the blog post. So, it doesn't really matter to me if you use adds or not. I have noticed by looking at other people's actual blogs that the adds can sometimes slow down the loading time.

I read lots of blogs with ads. The only time I would stop reading a blog with ads is if it got so cluttered that it became difficult to read.
But, having said that, I have *never* clicked on an ad in anyone's blog. They just don't draw me in. So no one will get rich having me as a reader, I guess. :)
