Simple Smoothie

ThrifyFloridaMama is hosting Make-It-Yourself Monday. The idea is to share recipes for foods that you make from scratch that other people may be used to buying prepackaged or from a restaurant. The goal is to save money by learning to make it yourself.

I love Smoothie King. This is my alternative to the $4 smoothie.
Using frozen fruit is key in making the consistency of the smoothie.
I have many other recipes for smoothies but they all take some funky and/or expensive kind of juice so I’ve never tried them.
I know you can buy smoothie mixes but they usually have artificial colors and stuff.
I like to stay as pure as possible.
You could make it completely organic but that would raise the price, of course. But that is an option if you prefer.
It takes a few minutes to make, but then you can drink it on the go.

Ingredients:
6 oz. blueberry yogurt (I prefer the low-fat w/ sugar over fat-free because the fat-free has artificial sweeteners, but use whatever you like)
Frozen strawberries
Frozen banana
Bit of water - approx 1/3 of the yogurt container (could also use some kind of berry juice)
Some ice if desired (add last)

Blend well and serve. Makes one big glass.

Cost: approx. $1.50 or less

Go read Angie's post and then leave a link to your Make-It-Yourself idea!
