I Like the Breadmaker

Thank you to my sweet friend for letting me try this out.  I am amazed that is SO easy to use!  And the bread turns out great!

After a few times of using it, I was set on wanting one, but now I am not sure.  The Light Oat Bread that I have been making is delicious, but it doesn't keep for much more than a day.  My husband was not a fan of it for sandwiches.  And considering how often I make sandwiches for lunches...

I guess the reason I would want to spend the money on one would be if I was convinced it would be healthier than store-bought bread... but I feel like homemade bread would only be significantly healthier than the alternative if I was grinding my own fresh whole-wheat flour or making sprouted or sourdough bread.  And I am not ready to commit to doing that.  So, I don't think I will invest in one... yet.

What are your thoughts?  Do you think I should want one?

It sure is fun to have fresh bread with nearly zero elbow-grease!

I love my bread machine and have a container that fits each loaf perfectly so it doesn't get dried out. No, the bread doesn't last as long as store bought and no I don't make the most healthy loaves...mostly rye bread is what I do BUT it's convenient to throw in the ingredients and sometimes use the timer for fresh bread in the morning. AND I love knowing exactly is in our bread. :)

I love my bread machine. I've been using it once a week to make Tammy's bread. We absolutely love it. And ours keeps for a week. We always store our bread in the fridge, though, so that probably helps it keep longer.

I have a dough function on mine that allows me to make whole wheat pizza dough; I can make a 2-lb. batch, split it in half, and freeze it--it's very convenient for busy evenings or nights where you just might not feel like cooking much.--Monica

I have had good luck making a sort of no-knead refrigerator bread. One recipe makes 3-4 loaves, and the ingredients are simply flour, yeast, water, and salt. This is so easy that a bread machine has never seemed necessary.
