Frugal, Fun Centerpiece: Sprinkle, Sparkle Marshmallow Pops

How's that for a long title?

I was charged with creating centerpieces for our winter staff meeting.  They needed to be inexpensive and relatively labor un-intensive. I decided on edible marshmallow pops after being inspired by these and these.  After some trial runs,I ended up going with the second method.  The only items that needed to be purchased were marshmallows and sprinkles, making 6 centerpieces for about $6.

Other supplies:
Glass jars - from home
Burlap, yarn, paper in the jars, and straws - provided at work

Popsicle or lollipop sticks may have been cuter than plastic straws, but the ones I had were too short.

Not nearly as tasty as cake pops, but just as cute, cheaper, and way easier!

I also made a little bouquet for my daughter :)

Now, I just hope they survive transit to their destination...

Very Cute! I will have to keep in mind for our next birthday party!

Just curious, have you ever done any "extreme couponing". I know you get great deals but I have been frustrated by looking at tv programs in which extreme couponers get hundreds of dollars worth of groceries for pennies. They claim you can get healthy food too but I have yet to find that! The only thing I found was that I got a container of rolled oats free!! While on maternity leave I am trying to cut our grocery bill way down while still maintaining healthy eating.

Thanks - the sugar crystal ones taste better than the rainbow ones, fyi :) I woudldn't recommend them for treats, actually, mostly just for looks.

I have not done any extreme couponing. I tried a few years back doing the deals by using coupons at CVS and Walgreens and grocery stores, but it was very time consuming for me (and hard to find healthy stuff)- I never got it down. Nowadays I don't have a place where I can print a lot for personal use, so I never print online coupons, and we don't get the paper... so that really limits things. I really only use coupons if they are provided for me - like the ones printed and given out in the Whole Foods "Whole Deal" flyer or mailed out by Costco for their store. I don't build my shopping around coupons, but I do try to build my shopping around the best prices/sales. Good luck! Please share any tricks you learn :)

OHMYGOSH! Love, love, love this idea. I might try the red and pink sprinkle ones for Valentine's Day. I'll give you and the other blogs credit when I blog about the beauty of it all!!! ;)

Super cute but what did you use to get the sprinkles to stoop to the marshmallows?

Just water! See the directions in the second link.
