Thrifty Green Facewash

I have not had perfect skin for at least 3 years. Actually never. But I will say that my skin has been probably it's worst in the past 3 years due to all the hormone fluctuations of quitting the pill, getting pregnant, breastfeeding, weaning, and becoming pregnant again. However, having perfect skin is not the most important thing to me right now. As long as it is clean and ungreasy, I am okay with it. During this time of nourishing another being, I am more concerned with not absorbing a bunch of dangerous toxins.

I am using Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean Facewash, which I wrote previously about here. I got it on sale for $6.99 at Whole Foods and it lasted me 4 months. When I went to purchase more, I noticed they sold refill bottle. This refill bottle contains 4 times the amount of the little pump bottle but only cost only 4 dollars more! I bought it. I expect it to last me over a year. $11 dollars for 1 bottle of facewash that lasts for a year+? That is thrifty and green to me.

Nice! It's so wonderful when saving the planet is easy and helpful for our budgets as well.

I did read a post sometime about cleansing oily skin (like mine) with olive and castor oil. The post claimed that using oil to cleanse actually led to less greasy skin and that making it at home was incredibly inexpensive. I never had time to try it but it sounded interesting. Thanks for joining us this Thrifty Green Thursday!

Hey! I think Joy made the last comment under my account. I certainly don't remember writing it. I have tried that face wash and think it's nice. Here's my revolutionary green tip: stop using face wash! About ten years ago I just stopped washing my face with anything but water, and it has never looked better. Of course, I told my sister this tip and it didn't do anything for her at all. But I was happy to eliminate a product from my shopping list AND have better skin as a result.
