...why I don't enjoy shopping at Wal-Mart.
I went there yesterday for the first time in months. We needed some toiletries, anti-perspirant to be specific. I am particular about brand and the kind I like never goes on sale. So it is usually cheapest at Wal-Mart. Plus I had to get an odd mix of groceries for this weekend. Plus it was frigid outside, my daughter was tired, and I wanted to get home as quickly as possible. So I was suckered into one-stop shopping at the most convenient place. Ugh. After months/years of shopping sales and Aldi's rock-bottom prices, I just hate paying full price for anything. I almost refused to get a couple things on my list, but gave in, not wanting to make more work for myself later.
Let's just say I don't miss shopping at Wal-Mart.
Um, and I need to make time to bake some more of my own bread. I was determined to find a wheat loaf without high-fructose corn syrup in it. I nearly choked paying $3 for it. Man, I'm cheap...

What recipe do you use to make your bread? Can you find everything you need for making it at Aldi's? A friend of mine has been offering to show me how she does hers, but we haven't set a date yet. She has some kind of machine where she makes her own flour, I think...
I have yet to perfect bread-making. We really only eat it for sandwiches, and homemade just gets so dry so quickly. If you do the search in the upper left corner of my blog for homemade bread, I've got a few posts on it. There is one recipe I like the best that you can also make hamburger buns with it. It is just flour, milk, oil, salt, yeast, and sugar, I think. Bulk yeast is cheap at costco! I wish I had a breadmaker. I'd like to try some of the bread recipes on www.tammysrecipes.com... but even she says that where you live can affect how the bread turns out. Strange, huh?
